I’m trying to get into product management but am not having any luck. How can I get my first product management job?

Now, I have my own thoughts on this, but I thought I’d ask my good old friend ChatGPT 4 to see if she (yes, she’s a she to me) could give me any career advice. Let’s see what she says, and talk about her advice.

The scenario

I concocted a simple scenario to start with, which also formed my first prompt. I made it up myself, but I’m sure you’ve seen this yourself all over the place. It’s a common cry for help.

I have been a project manager in a traditional bank for 5 years but have a strong interest in digital products and am really keen to get into product management. There are quite a few jobs out there but I’m finding it hard to even get an interview — I get ghosted quite often, or given a polite “thanks but no thanks” — what is the best way for me to be a more credible candidate for a Product Manager role and what should I tackle first?
